It’s a hard thing to teach but the quality of goods were 10x better than some of the shit companies put out today. Back in the mid 90′s before the big sneaker craze, Hiking boots were dominating the streets on Nyc and Timberland was on fire. These boots are 15 years old and have been in my closet forever because they are 1/2 size to small on me. I never even thought about selling these, these have serious sentimental value to me. extremely rich leather, Perfed yellow leather Gore-Tex lining, with a thick padded leather collar. These are the best made Timberland Boots ever. Do any of you remember these?

I have been looking for 40 Belows for so many years, and missed getting the ALIFE x Timb reissue. How do I find these boots? Does anyone know or are they willing to sell a size 10.5?!

  • Rob Cooper

Great site….but for the record the Timbs pictured above are NOT 40 Belows (Super Timbs). I remember the ones pictured above as well as the originals. If you want to see what the originals looked like do a google search for Alife 40 Below Timberlands. Alife a store in NY re- released the Super Timbs last year they sold out in about a month (I missed out then). I finally caught me a pair by going to Ebay and doing a search for Super Timberland 40 Below. You just have to keep searching on Ebay since then I have seen them pop up often….just a little FYI.

Oh and also the real name for the 40 Below Timberland Super boot is the Timberland Iditarod Superboot. The seller on ebay was username grapevinehill they might have more it is worth a try. Good luck! Peace

I bought a pair of these back in the late 80s or early 90s that look identical to those in the photos except they have a plastic doohickey instead of a metal loop (in the lowest loop position only). It was one of many Timberlands I bought at a store in Buffalo. I never found them very useful. The only time I took them out was when I was living at the base of Keystone Mtn in Colorado and we had a foot of snow every day for a week. Even then I thought they were overkill and went back to the lighter boots I would usually wear. In Alabama they are as useful as the skis mounted on my wall.

I had a pair of these back in 92/93. I remember them being called Iditarods. The 40 Belows were the ones that were the darker wrinkled brown.

where can I find a pair? I have been looking for these for years

  • Mendy

My pair (from sometime in the mid-90′s) just gave way – the sole separated from the boot. Love, love, love these boots. If you’re willing to sell these, I’m game.

I just had a young buck ask me about my boots today. I told him they were affectionately known as “Super Timbs”. I got mine in the late 80′s I think. Like Mendy, they separated at the first layer of the sole where it attached to the upper. I was fortunate to find an OG cobbler who put a brand new Vibram sole on. I clean and polish these bad boys like a fine pair of Faragamos. My pair have the same beautiful congac color, but the construction is like these (note the ankle wrap-loop): http://www.sierratradingpost.com/timberland-authentics-super-i-race-boots-waterproof-gore-tex-for-men~p~95415/
