tags: The Ronnie Fieg Sebago Spring/Summer Men's Collection & Site Launch
375 days ago I was informed by Sebago that they were interested in creating a Ronnie Fieg capsule collection. Throughout the last year, only those closest to me know how hard I’ve worked to produce these shoes I present to you today. Having exclusively sold my previous collaborations through one retailer, this was an amazing opportunity for me to branch out and offer my work on an international level.
While out in The Dominican Republic for my Nexus Project, I witnessed firsthand what Sebago is capable of as far as production and since then, the desire to continue to work with Sebago only grew stronger. My second trip down to DR was for this line. I sat down with pattern makers and the fringe idea was something I’ve been wanting to execute for quite some time. The real challenge was to create a collar on the Odanak boot which would be completely removable without a trace (no buttons, toggles, or velcro) and after working on this design for over 3 days I came up with this closure system which ties the two pieces together in the back with a rawhide lace. The Abinaki is a traditional dockside with a fringe collar. Adding the this new piece to the upper gave me another great panel to work with and show material contrast between the vamp, quarter and the collar. I think it’s a perfect alternative to the traditional dockside, same classic feel with a twist. The Spinnakers are the two tone docksides made with some of the best leathers you will ever see/feel. The pebbled leather should look familiar to you, its the same leather used on the Marcus Troy dockside combined with 3H premium box leathers. Very clean, very different. And finally, the traditional dockside; there was no way I would create a collection and not work on Sebago’s timeless classic. The antique brown and sand leathers are amazing and look better with age, something I definitely look for when working on heritage product.
Each shoe in the collection is limited to 300 pairs and will be offered at top-shelf retailers across the country. A few of the shops carrying the line for in store purchase will be Shoe Gallery (Miami), Ubiq (Philly), Conveyor at Fred Segal (Los Angeles), select Saks 5th Ave locations, select Bloomingdale locations, Akira (Chicago), West (Upper West side Nyc), and David Z.(Soho Nyc).
For this release I am launching an E-Commerce section to my website. I’ve been working with my good friend Andy Oliver for months creating a web page which will emphasize the details of my collection. Ever since I got started in this business this was a long term goal that is finally coming into fruition, I hope you guys enjoy it! Check out the Ronnie Fieg by Sebago Site here.
A very special thanks to Sean Munro for shooting with me every other weekend for the past year, Gary Malamet and Tom Siano for believing in me since day one and making me part of the Sebago family, Natalie Tassell for getting things done for me, and Andy Oliver for helping me bring my vision to life with the new site. I couldn’t do it without you guys, thank you!
