In honor of the Ronnie Fieg x ASICS Gel Lyte III “Flamingo” shoe releasing this Friday, I was fortunate enough to team up with my good friends over at BWGH for a special apparel pack. The pieces include two short sleeve crewnecks and two special Stanton sweatshorts, one in a grey fit and the other in salmon. The body of each item is made with a lightweight Japanese French terry and features premium stitched chenille and loose ribbing. On the crewnecks, the chenille patches include blue and salmon touches to match the hues of the “Flamingo” Gel Lyte III. Each fit is handmade in Europe and includes recognizable BWGH curly yarns that also follow the color palette of the shoes. The Ronnie Fieg x BWGH “Flamingo” pack is exclusive to Kith NYC stores and KithNYC.com in very limited quantities. Pick up both fits starting Friday, August 2nd at 11am EST, $105 USD for the crewnecks and $90 for the shorts.

The last three or four summers I found myself wanting a short sleeve french terry sweatshirt, on some Rocky shit. I found a few options by different brands over the years but there was always something off with the piece, whether it was the fabric or fit, they just weren’t right. The length of the body and sleeves on a short sleeve crew are important to keep proportionate. So I’ve had an idea for this cut for a while, I just needed good fabric and a pattern maker to work with and execute correctly. Along comes the young genius, David Obadia. His brainchild BWGH has become one of those brands that has evolved right in front of our eyes. In a short period of time BWGH has become one of my favorite apparel brands and continues to grow on me daily. His attention to detail and taste in fabric and quality has really impressed me over the last couple of years, traits of a true designer. We starting working on “The Boxer” about six months ago and they’re finally ready to release. The “Just” and “Us” logos are executed separately to emphasize how important each of the two words are in a phrase that will represent the Kith brand for many years to come. The Boxer Short Sleeve Crews are limited to 72 pieces per color.

It all started about three months ago when we needed to design a flag to hang outside the Kith Soho shop under the scaffolding (which is coming down next week!). We needed a staple flag to represent the shop, something clean that we would turn into a concept for apparel and other pieces in the near future. The flag for the outside of the shop came out dope, black with black stripes and white Kith logo. Clean but bold, exactly what the brand stands for. Months later comes the first Kith Flag tee, the first of an ongoing saga that will continue soon. The Kith Flag Tee is limited to 72 pieces.

All three pieces will be available at Kith NYC locations and KithNYC.com at 11am EST today, with the Ronnie Fieg X BWGH products retailing for $105 USD and the Kith 4th of July Tee for $45 USD.

Part 2 of 2 from the Kith NYC x BWGH “New York vs. Paris” collection has now been debuted, marked with the release of the all new “New York” Crewneck. After the initial Part 1 “Paris” Crewneck from last week, Kith NYC and BWGH are back at it with an updated colorway representing the hometown of Kith. The “New York” Crewneck features a heather wool body for warmth and a french terry lined fabric for comfort. On this style, details include “Just Us” is stitched across the front in orange terrycloth to represent both brands and additions like brown corduroy elbow patches. The Kith NYC x BWGH “New York” Crewneck will retail for $120 USD at Kith NYC stores and KithNYC.com starting later today.

Paris meets New York for this special collaboration between BWGH and Kith NYC. As Kith stands for friends and family, BWGH embodies the same concept as the brand was founded by two parisian friends. I have a strong respect for David and the brand and how far they’ve come in only a few years, I look forward to seeing them grow each season as they continue to produce on point collections. Both companies have a strong attention to detail for every release with an aim to produce products for a worldwide customer. The result are two Kith NYC x BWGH Crewnecks featuring a heather wool body for warmth and a french terry lined fabric for comfort representing each city.

The first navy colorway represents the city of Paris, the hometown of BWGH. On this crewneck “Just Us” is stitched across the front in red terrycloth to represent both brands and our mutual friendships. Finishing touches include navy corduroy elbow patches and a slim fit. The Kith NYC x BWGH “Just Us” Paris Crewneck will retail for $120 USD this Friday, December 14th, 2012 at Kith NYC stores and KithNYC.com starting at 11am EST.

Stay tuned for the New York colorway coming soon…
