After the successful response to the previous capsule collection I did with Del Toro not too long ago, I was more than happy to team up with my good friends once again to take on the challenge of reinventing a new take on a classic style. The goal this time around was to ease the transition into the Fall season with a fully re-done chukka. The Ronnie Fieg For Del Toro Cloud Camo Neoprene Chukka says everything in its name. The shoe is comprised of a cloud camo print that’s seen all over and includes a matching black Margom sole beneath for lasting use. Handmade in Italy, the style features a sport lux neoprene upper that we decided to add for year round use and comfort while details include durable calf skin leather lining, strong leather laces and quality gold riri zippers. The Ronnie Fieg For Del Toro Cloud Camo Neoprene Chukka will hit Kith NYC stores and KithNYC.com exclusively in very limited quantities for $340 USD on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 11am EST.

My latest collaboration was with Maine, USA footwear natives Yuketen. I’ve admired the quality of this brand for awhile now and was excited when given the chance to work hand in hand with their factories. I chose a Snake Penny Loafer to transition into the Fall season with the help of Yuketen’s skilled artisans. Each shoe is handmade in Maine and features genuine handsewn moccasin construction with their experienced leather workers. The leather Snake print on the upper is sourced straight from Italy for high quality lasting ability, and the shoe has been fully lined with full-grain bovine leather. Finally to wrap it up, the branded insoles include vegetable tanned leather while below sees goodyear stitching between the slip-resistance all natural crepe outsole and midsole. This exclusive Ronnie Fieg x Yuketen Snake Penny Loafer is only available Kith NYC stores and KithNYC.com starting today for $400 USD in numbered quantities.

White Label 2.0 brings together an upgraded lineup of Kith products from head to toe. First up in the collection is the bold tailor fitted Arena Stitch-down Oxford ($145 USD), offered in Red, Black or White featuring bold “KITHSET” and “82″ branding. Each oxford is designed with shirting weight twill, satin lettering/numbering, and a button closure down the front and on the wrists. The Lightning Bolt tee ($45 USD) arrives in Grey, Black or White. Made with 100% cotton, the tee includes contrast lightning bolts on the sides, a Kith box logo on the rear and a subtle stitched tag on the bottom front. Back by popular demand, two new Mercer pants ($135 USD) in Black or Stone are added next in a lightweight summer twill fabric. All-over stitched lightning bolt embroidery make up the silhouette, along with the Mercer’s ribbed cuff at the ankle and two rear and side pockets. White Label 2.0 also sees the introduction of the lightweight summer twill Mercer short ($88 USD). The shorts are available in Navy/Salmon or Camo/Red featuring the same stitched lightning bolt styled embroidery as the pant, but with a stitched over cuff at the knee. Accessories this time around include a handful of hats designed with Starter ($45 USD). The collection includes a “Just” hat in Red, an “Us” hat in Black, both of which include “Kith” side panel branding, two “Kith” hats in Black/White or Red/White/Blue, and two “BK” hats in Black or Red. Each hat is also offset with green underbills. All apparel pieces were made locally in New York City for the collection. Finally comes a special collaboration with Filling Pieces footwear. The Kith x Filling Pieces Low-Top style ($170 USD) was made in Portugal and will be available in all over Black or White colorways. Features include smooth leather upper with subtle Kith and “Just Us” branding on the tongue and heel. Shot by: 13thWitness

Chapter 4 is the final episode of the Ronnie Fieg For Sebago Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Finishing off the line are two of my favorite styles, an all new Spinnaker ($115 USD) and all new Schooner ($130 USD). The Sebago Spinnaker is a classic handsewn moc-toe boat shoe which needed two-tone nubuck uppers and Sebago’s non-marking rubber Docksides soles. The style includes durable leather socklining and is laced with functional rawhide navy laces. The Schooner is one of Sebago’s most iconic boat shoe styles. The handsewn model combines a classic silhouette with rubber slip-resistant Campside soles, while the genuine moccasin construction uses light brown nubuck and soft light denim on the upper. Off-white rawhide laces, calfskin lining, mudguard quarter panels and non-corrosive brass eyelets finish off the look.

The Ronnie Fieg For Sebago Spring/Summer 2013 Chapter 4 Collection will be releasing at Kith NYC stores and RonnieFieg.com starting today at 11am EST.

Two years ago I bought a pair of vintage camo pants and took them to my tailor to get altered. Slimed down the legs, added elastic cuffs and added a draw string to the waist band. Within a week I got more compliments on my pants than anything I have ever worn (including footwear). People wanted them. Badly. The first camo pant from Red Label was the first real apparel piece I worked on. I was super proud of the fit and although there are a million changes I would have made to that pant today, it was a great starting point. Fast forward two years, the line has grown exponentially. No restraints, no pressure, no quotas and no help. The Mercer pant took 6 months to perfect. I wanted to create a classic that can stand alone for a decade. A pant that can be worn at anytime to fit any look day or night. Production hasn’t been easy. I’m used to working with billion dollar companies that have the best manufacturing capabilities in the world so when I started producing things myself it was a light slap in the face. It took two years for me to really understand how the apparel business works and now I’m proud to have a creative director and a product manager that have helped direct the brand. Paying attention to details is always most important and I’m excited to see how you guys will react to some of the pieces that are coming. Kith will continue to push the envelope and I appreciate all the support we’ve been getting since day 1. The project that has taken most of my time for the last 6 months is dropping soon. White Label Chapter 2. Stay tuned.

How badly did I want this? I realize it’s not about how bad you want something, it’s about what you are willing to sacrifice to get where you want to go. I sacrificed the most precious element in life. Time. How much time? Almost all of it. People say hard work pays off. Well what exactly is the pay off? Success? Money? The payoff is doing what you actually love, that’s when you will work your hardest. My goals have always been to make a difference, to change the way things are usually done and to give back to the people who care about being different. Kith has been the outlet that I imagined when building the shops 2.5 years ago, a breath of fresh air the market needed. 2 years later I feel like I learned more in this period of time than all my prior years on this planet combined. So what have been some of the obstacles along the way? Well.. I honestly feel like this business has become a series of challenges that I need to overcome. I find myself asking the same question almost every day, what do they think they’ll never see from me? What can I create that will make them remember the brand? Even with some success, the back to wall mentality is what will continue to push the envelope and keep things interesting. Nothing has come easy. Production for the in house brand has been extremely frustrating, especially with the local manufacturing. Scheduling, logistics, warehousing, billing, and managing employees are just a few of the daily nightmares a small business deals with on a daily basis. People think running this business is easy. Many people see the collaborative projects and think it’s just that easy to release a project not knowing how many decisions and man hours were involved to make releases possible. This shit is hard.

Team. Putting together the current Kith team was by far the toughest task thus far. Even though they don’t blog enough, some of you might already know them. Without the team Kith wouldn’t exist. I honestly feel lucky to have such talented individuals who are better than me in many ways. Seeing the team evolve into what it is today makes me extremely proud and I feel that might be my greatest accomplishment to date.
