If you’re a fan of Hand-sewn footwear it’s almost impossible not to like the traditional 3 eye Lug by Timberland. The style #5009 (burgundy) has been around for decades and is an international classic. With Fall right around the corner, these Hand-sewns would do your outfit some good. The David Z. flagship (556 Broadway) has these in stock all year long.

It’s a hard thing to teach but the quality of goods were 10x better than some of the shit companies put out today. Back in the mid 90’s before the big sneaker craze, Hiking boots were dominating the streets on Nyc and Timberland was on fire. These boots are 15 years old and have been in my closet forever because they are 1/2 size to small on me. I never even thought about selling these, these have serious sentimental value to me. extremely rich leather, Perfed yellow leather Gore-Tex lining, with a thick padded leather collar. These are the best made Timberland Boots ever. Do any of you remember these?

For David Z. this is where it all started. I remember being a sales person in 1996, i was 14 years old. David Zaken, my boss/uncle/mentor came up with the first “Special Make-Up” (collaboration) in the footwear industry introducing grey to the market which was saturated with basic colors. Until today i have yet to see a reaction to a release of any shoe including Jordans and Yeezys to match up against the craziness i witnessed behind these joints. I remember selling over 450 pairs of these out of one door on the first day and we ended up selling over 10,000 pairs in a little over a month. I personally sold these to Jay, Puff, Mase, every member of Wu Tang, Red Man, Mobb Deep, AZ, Nas, and Guru(we still have pics of all of them and many more at the shop). After seeing the success with Timberland we went on to produce grey Dolomites and grey suede Clark Wallabees all in the same year. When bringing up originators to this game make sure you remember Mr. Z, the first one to collaborate on footwear and the dude who mentored me throughout my career.

These boots have been re-released and can be purchased here.

While out in Vegas for Magic/Project, I went to visit my boy Andy who showed me these Rag and Bone Timberland collaborative boots. These 6 eye joints are very well made from the leather/waxed canvas to leather lining to the welt and sole. A little different from the original 7 eye lug soles but still keeping the traditional Timberland classic feel. Rag and Bone is one of my favorite clothing brands, much respect to those cats. Catch me in these next season, dope.
